In the hallowed halls of the Philippine International Convention Center, amidst the echoes of celebration and commemoration, a quiet yet resounding acknowledgment reverberated through the air. The Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) Day, a testament to fiscal stewardship and national prosperity, bore witness to an extraordinary feat: the recognition of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) for its unparalleled contributions to the nation’s coffers.
Since its inception in 1995, PEZA has stood as a bastion of economic resilience, a lighthouse of solace amidst turbulent seas. At the helm of this venerable institution stands a visionary leader, Director General Tereso O. Panga—a name synonymous with innovation, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the Filipino people.
Amidst the glittering backdrop of accolades and applause, Director General Panga’s voice cuts through the clamor, resonating with humility and gratitude. “We would like to thank our registered business enterprises and ecozone developers/operators,” he declares, acknowledging the collaborative efforts that have propelled PEZA to unparalleled heights of success.
Under the astute guidance of Trade Secretary and PEZA Board Chairman Alfredo Pascual, alongside the esteemed members of the PEZA Board, Director General Panga has steered the organization towards unprecedented achievements. With a total remittance of PhP 13.083 Billion to the National Government, including a staggering PhP 1.364 Billion for Jan-Apr 2024 alone, PEZA stands as a testament to the power of strategic foresight and steadfast leadership.
Yet, Director General Panga’s visionary stewardship extends far beyond financial remittances. It embodies a broader ethos of empowerment, innovation, and inclusive growth. Through the ecozone development program and investment attraction initiatives, PEZA paves the way for a “Bagong Pilipinas”—a New Philippines defined by prosperity, opportunity, and resilience.
As the curtains draw to a close on the GOCCs Day festivities, the legacy of PEZA and its indefatigable leader, Director General Tereso O. Panga, lingers in the collective consciousness—a guiding light in times of ambiguity, a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Filipino people.
