Remulla, facing allegations of involvement in Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO), has vociferously defended himself and his family, laying bare the facts with a transparency rare in political life. These accusations, flung with reckless abandon, appear not only baseless but malicious, designed to tarnish reputations without a shred of credible evidence.

Governor Remulla’s assertion is clear: his family sold the Island Cove resort in 2018, long before it was retrofitted as a POGO site. The property, originally purchased by his late father in 1970, has been out of their hands for years. The taxes paid during the sale, a staggering P400 million, underscore the legitimate transfer of ownership. Yet, the specter of accusation looms large, casting shadows of doubt over a family whose connection to the site is historical, not operational.

The boldness of Remulla’s defense is compelling. Offering P10 million to anyone who can prove their involvement in the current POGO operations or protection thereof is not the move of a man with secrets to hide. This is a direct challenge to his accusers, daring them to substantiate their claims with facts, not whispers. In a political landscape rife with innuendo and half-truths, such a straightforward rebuttal is both refreshing and telling.

The timing and nature of these accusations beg further scrutiny. Could it be mere coincidence that these rumors surfaced as the Senate’s inquiry into POGOs avoided scrutinizing operations in Cavite, focusing instead on those in Tarlac? The selective targeting suggests a deliberate smear campaign, aimed at discrediting Governor Remulla and his family for motives that remain shrouded in political intrigue.

Governor Remulla’s brother, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, and another brother, former Congressman and now Pagcor director Gilbert Remulla, have also been dragged into this web of allegations. Yet, the facts again dispel the fiction. Gilbert Remulla only joined Pagcor in 2022, while the POGO permits for Island Cove were issued in 2020, a clear temporal disconnect that dismantles the accusations of familial conspiracy.

The orchestration of these allegations hints at deeper motives. Political rivalry, the desire to destabilize a powerful family, or to deflect attention from other culpable entities—all are plausible reasons behind this orchestrated attack. What stands out is the calculated attempt to manipulate public perception and wield baseless claims as a weapon against the Remullas.

Governor Remulla’s emphatic statements, denying any involvement in gambling operations or illegal activities, and rejecting the notion of acting as protectors for foreign interests, especially China, are not just defensive but assertive. They point to a broader narrative of integrity under siege by unfounded accusations.

In defending Jonvic Remulla, we must also rebuke vehemently those who propagate such baseless allegations. The bloggers and rumor-mongers who disseminate these lies are not just damaging an individual’s reputation but are undermining the very fabric of political discourse. Their motives, whether rooted in personal vendetta or political gain, are corrosive to the principles of justice and truth.

The people behind these accusations must be exposed for what they are: purveyors of deceit, aiming to destabilize through misinformation. Their actions are not merely an affront to the Remulla family but to every citizen who values truth over deceit. The justice system and public opinion must turn the spotlight back on these accusers, demanding accountability for their reckless and destructive claims.
